Description
EC3's industrial maintenance welding program offers an introduction to welding that provides a basic understanding of welding safety, math, metallurgy, tools, and print reading. The course will introduce the different types of weld processes, including:
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding "Stick"
- Flux Core Arc Welding "Dual or Inner Shield"
- Gas Metal Arc Welding "Mig"
- Gas Tungsten Arc Welding "Tig"
- SMAW or "stick" welding
No welding background is required.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this 40-hour program, students will be able to:
- Read and interpret basic blueprints.
- Apply basic math in a shop/fabrication setting.
- Identify equipment and safety procedures related to equipment, processes, and materials used in the major welding processes of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
- Weld using the SMAW process on steel to the standards of the American Welding Society (AWS).
