Erie County Community College is a Candidate institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE or the Commission) www.msche.org. Erie County Community College’s accreditation status is Candidate Status Granted. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on November 21, 2024 was to acknowledge receipt of the candidate assessment report. To grant Candidate for Accreditation status and invite the institution to initiate its first self-study in preparation for an evaluation visit in 2026-2027 under the Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation (Fourteenth Edition and Evidence Expectations by Standard). MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidate status) activities for institutions of higher education including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The Commission’s geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States.
