The safety and security of the campus community is important at EC3. Erie County Community College offers classes at four locations, along with various sites throughout Erie County. The College has a multi-layered support team responsible for developing processes and communications that help create and maintain a safe environment for students, staff, faculty, and guests.
Megan’s Law
By law, the Pennsylvania State Police maintains a registry of convicted sex offenders on the agency’s Megan’s Law website. Offenders who appear on the Megan’s Law website are required to list their home and work addresses. If they are students, they are also required to list the name and address of the school they are attending.
Erie County Community College students, faculty and staff may access this information at: www.pameganslaw.state.pa.us. Users of the Megan’s Law website may also opt to receive an e-mail notification when new offenders are added.
Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act
The Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, also known as the Clery Act, is all about keeping students in the know when it comes to campus safety. The Act requires colleges to share information about certain crimes that happen on or near campus, along with the policies in place to help keep everyone safe.
All colleges are required to use common definitions for crime information. These definitions are reported using Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) standards. This ensures that campus crime stats are consistent, accurate, and easier to understand.
The Clery Act and UCR reporting help you stay informed, aware, and empowered while you’re on campus.
