Adjunct teaching faculty provide instruction aligned with the college's mission and evaluate students' progress to facilitate achievement of their educational goals.

 

About the Position:

EC3 is seeking a Registered Nurse (BSN) to teach in our Practical Nursing Program.  This position offers the opportunity to share your industry experience with students, preparing them for successful careers.

  • Delivers Instruction
  • Conducts assigned classes and/or labs
  • Prepares lessons
  • Provides course syllabus (which shall include grading standards, attendance policies, classroom behavioral expectations, course outline and, contact information)
  • Verifies student enrollment and submits grade sheets
  • Utilizes online Learning Management Software to enhance and support instruction
  • Evaluate Student Progress
  • Keeps accurate record of student performance
  • Provides students with timely feedback
  • Provides Student Assistance
  • Refers students to student support services
  • Accommodates special needs students
  • As a member of the college community, faculty and staff should perform their professional responsibilities in accordance with the goals, missions, and plans of the department, program, division, and College, in addition to contributing to the creation of a collegial culture
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current, active, unencumbered Pennsylvania RN License
  • Minimum of (5) years of experience as an RN
  • Minimum of (1) year of experience in long-term care
  • Current BLS certification

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years of teaching experience in a higher education setting is strongly preferred
  • Experience with PA State Board of Nursing requirements for Practical Nursing programs
  • Experience supervising in a clinical environment
  • Experience in high to mid-fidelity clinical simulation
  • Experience with Blackboard or a similar online Learning Management System preferred
  • Professionalism, student-oriented, ability to maintain confidentiality, practiced in written and oral communication, and exhibits good decision-making

 

Physical Demands of Position

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, bend, stretch, use steps, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move items: up to 10 pounds constantly, 30 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.  At clinical sites, faculty must be able to regularly lift and move patients using safe clinical practices and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and arm's length vision acuity.  Must sit at a desk and use a computer with monitors at times.

Exposure to clinical environments that may include hospitals, long-term care facilities, outpatient clinics, and community health settings pose a potential exposure risk to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, bodily fluids, and other biohazardous materials. Exposure to unpredictable patient behaviors and high-noise, high-stress environments is possible.

Varying hours and travel to off-campus clinical sites is required for this position. Ability to work flexible hours, either morning, afternoon, or evening sessions is required.  Some weekends may apply.
